Hooray!!

Welcome to our blog spot!  Scott and I wanted to create this blog to keep our friends and family informed as we progress through our first pregnancy.  After working with Dr. Glen Hofman for two and a half years...WE ARE PREGNANT WITH TWINS!!  Here's their first picture when they were just blastocysts:

Scott and I always knew having children might be difficult because I was diagnosis with PCOS when I was 15 years old, just a year before Scott and I began dating.  We've shared almost 19 years together and we couldn't be happier to be adding to our family.

Our road to "the kids" was long and included many trials of Clomed, injections, and 3 IVF attempts.  Last year was difficult as our first 2 IVF attempts resulted in miscarriages.  However, our second IVF attempt gave us 25 fertilized eggs! On Jan. 5, 2009, we had our 3rd. embryo transfer using 2 thawed embryos.  It was a long wait until Jan.13th, but well worth it because we found out that we were pregnant and my hcg level was 116 (almost double what it had been before).  Two days later, my hcg level was retested and they were looking for the number to at least double.  We held our breath because this is where we had experienced problems in the past.  To our pleasant surprise, it had increased to 323...we were pregnant and it was progressing well.  We were so excited but experience had taught us to proceed with caution.  This is our first ultrasound picture.  If you look closely, you'll see two dark circles on each side of the white arrow!

Scott and I cheered and laughed the first time morning sickness hit...a true reason to celebrate!  Around week 5, we had an ultrasound that revealed 2 babies and we both cried.  I wasn't even off of the table before the entire office knew our news and was celebrating with us!  After all this time, we were blessed with twins! At week 7, we saw their little hearts beating and this ranks as the most incredible moment in our lives.  Again, we cried tears of joy (I think this will be a pattern for us over the next 7 months and probably years after that!).  This is what we saw on the ultrasound at week 7!

This is when we graduated from Dr. Hofman's care.  Dr. Hofman, Dr. Warikoo, Wendy, Linda, Bonny, Cindy, Patty, Joy, Phyllis, Ann, Theresa, and all of the wonderful staff became part of our lives and although we were thrilled to not need their services anymore, it was sad to move on.  I cannot say enough about the quailty of care we received, both physically and emotionally.  They cried with us during difficult times and celebrated with us during good times - a true support system.  We consider them our family and our heroes!

Now, we are anxiously awaiting our first doctor visit on Feb. 20th with Dr. Marcello Pietrantoni, a local perinatologist.  We appreciate your support, love, and prayers.  We will keep you posted as things progress.  The infertility and pregnancy journies have reminded us that science can only do so much and that life truely is a miracle!
