On Saturday, Scott made breakfast for me and we relaxed around the house. That afternoon as I was checking my Genie birthday e-mails, I received one from Scott with a blue box "gift". He told me to "double click" on the gift and it would open. Telling someone to "double click" on something is his nerdy computer-guy joke because he claims "you don't ever have to double click...I don't know why so many people double click on things!". I did click on it, but nothing happened. Just as I called to him to help me, he came down the steps with a Tiffany blue box in hand and said "I guess you'll just have to open this one". Inside was a beautiful silver bracelet with a dangling heart charm.
To understand how thoughtful this is, you need to know a little about last year. When we had our first miscarriage around March 2008, Scott bought me a silver bracelet from Tiffanys with a dangling heart charm. He hoped it would remind me of his love for me and that we can make it through anything together. During the summer 2008, someone broke into our home and stole all of my jewelry. I lost many pieces of jewelry that were dear to me ( a benefit of having family that own a jewelry store): a full strand of pearls my mom, dad, and family had contributed to that I wore on our wedding day, jewelry from all of the wonderful places Scott and I have visited, the diamond necklace and earring Scott had given me that match my wedding ring, and the silver bracelet from Scott. We are replacing it slowly, but it takes a while to replace a lifetime of jewelry. It really means so much to me that Scott thought to give me the bracelet for my birthday.
My birthday didn't stop there. We used a gift certificate to stay downtown at the Hampton Inn, met some friends at Tumbleweed on the River for dinner and then returned to the hotel for swimming. Kassi Taylor made 2 birthday cakes for her mom and me (we have the same birthday) and they were both delicious! Sunday morning, we had a decadent brunch at Rivue, the revolving restaurant at the Galt House. So you can see why this birthday was so wonderful! All of this, a wonderful husband, and twins on the way...I am very lucky!
